Student Clubs
The Sustainability-focused clubs at each of the Peralta Colleges is a gathering space for students who care our environment and our relationship to it and with each other. The clubs have open-memberships, and work on whatever their membership is interested in. Some club activities include film screening, inviting speakers, field trips and consciousness-raising events on campuses. The clubs are facilitated by the Recycling Education Intern, who provide logistical and administrative support to club members.
The Green Club at Berkeley City College
This year’s Green Club is still organizing themselves for the upcoming Spring 2009 semester. Some of their key goals are to show students how to recycle, increase visibility of the club, hosting a speaker and hosting a film screening.
The BCC Green Club is the first sustainability-related club ever formed at the Peralta Colleges. Founded in Spring 2007 by Maia Wolins, the club quickly rallied an energetic group of students from many age groups.

The Land and the People Club at Merritt College
The Land and The People Green Club is a grassroots student organization with three areas of focus: educating Merritt College students about environmental principles, engaging people of color in the environmental justice movement, and strengthening our school and our community through participation and cooperation.
