College Sustainability Clubs

The Sustainability-focused clubs at each of the Peralta Colleges is a gathering space for students who care our environment and our relationship to it and with each other. The clubs have open-memberships, and work on whatever their membership is interested in. Some club activities include film screening, inviting speakers, field trips and consciousness-raising events on campuses. The clubs are facilitated by the Recycling Education Intern, who provide logistical and administrative support to club members.

Recycling Education Internship

Every year, the Sustainable Peralta takes applications for the Recycling Education Internship, where students receive a $500 stipend every semester for working 50 hours on promoting recycling amongst students on their own campuses.

Each intern works with a mentor on their campus to ensure they receive the administrative, creative and intellectual support needed to both grow their leadership skills, educated fellow students and help the District keep recyclables out of the landfills.
