Sustainable Peralta

Transforming Peralta’s educational culture, physical operations and administrative philosophy towards Environmental Sustainability

Berkeley City College College of Alameda Laney College Merritt College

Green Curriculum Committee

Green curriculum doesn’t mean teaching about recycling, global warming, polar bears or any of those iconic topics in Sustainability. In fact, principles of sustainability are relevant to every discipline, so whether you teach math, sociology, literature or business administration, there’s always some way to update a unit-plan to address the very real and very present issues from our costly lifestyles.

The Green Curriculum Committee meets every month, around downtown Oakland, for coffee and chats about precisely these issues. Most of the conversation is spawned by the latest events in the news. There’s also a healthy dose of television references and historical allusions before the group thinks again on greening Peralta educational focus in individuals and in policies.

Please, check the calendar for the next meeting, and come on by.
